Bora Bora is expensive but here is some advice on how to cut down on wedding costs:

You can do the invitations yourself. Two of my friends did theirs on the computer and they looked so good that no one had a clue that they didn’t cost hundreds of dollars. So cheap, it’s almost free!

No, the bridesmaids do not need bouquets. They can walk without anything in their hands. Or, they can come down the aisle holding a candle. Or, maybe 1 flower stem. I’ve seen this and it can be very pretty. It’s nice because it’s clear that the wedding is all about the bride. And it’s obviously cheap, but classy at the same time.

If you absolutely NEED to have a throw away bouquet, you can pick flowers or buy them and arrange them yourself. It is super cheap to do it yourself. OR you can do what I did–Instead of throwing the bouquet, I presented my own (which also happened to be calla lillies) to whoever I chose. I happened to choose a friend of mine who was engaged to be married.

Cake–I would slurge on this. I’m sorry. No advice here. I’m a foodie, and a beautiful cake looks good on camera. Just get a beautiful one that is small. As she is only inviting 20 people, it should still be cheap.

Favors– This is not necessary. (I didn’t have them, and I’ve thrown out every favor I’ve ever gotten from a wedding) But, if you absolutely have to have them, there are cheap options. Like an engagement picture of the two of you. Or a burned CD of your favorite love songs.

Music- I had a DJ. A friend had a CD playing in the background. If I could do it all over again I’d choose a CD. NO ONE notices. (Unless of course I had tons of money. Then I’d go with a live band)
