Where is Your Wedding Ring?

is anyone else out there wearing their mothers wedding dress?
Im curious, I see so many questions on people asking which dress we all prefer etc.
My mum and dad have both passed away and I still have my mothers wedding dress, and Im lucky that it is not old fashioned, it was a classic style. The only thing that would hold me back from wearing it is if I cant get it dry cleaned without the lace etc falling apart (it is now over 30 years old) Im also looking at asking an aunty (who made the dress for my mum) to make alterations and make it my own. If I really cant get it cleaned and altered I will be using it to make my veil and ring cushions etc.
Anyone else out there doing the same or similar and can you share your ideas?
Thanks!
LOL…the dress is creme, with antique lace, there are many bridal gowns similar being sold for a small fortune these days ![]()
I think that’s a fabulous idea!
If my mom had a wedding dress, I think I would have loved to have made it my own. Unfortunatly, my mom and dad didn’t have a very formal wedding, and she didn’t have a dress!
It’s pretty amazing what a good seamstress can do with a dress. They could take a dress from years and years ago, and completely transform it into something a little more modern. SO, even if it’s ‘out of style’, it can be made into something spectacular according to today’s standards.
I’m keeping my wedding gown for my daughter. Whether she wants to wear it will be up to her…but I’d be honored if she did, or had it altered into an entirely new dress. OR, even if she had it made into a ring pillow!
