Making your own invitations is a great way to save money, but make sure you don’t try to go over the top. If you want perfect looking, formal invitations then buying is the way to go. If you like the crafty look of something imperfect but still cute, I would make your own.

I’ve had a lot of success designing invitations and church programs on the computer and printing them on nice papers bought from a craft store or online. These have been limited to printing on two sides with 1 fold at most and take around 8 hours of design time, not including printing and assembly. (I’m very particular) You can tell they weren’t store bought, but that is what I wanted and I think they turned out great.

My biggest concern with what you are describing is the pocket. I would be worried about whether the adhesive used to make the pockets would hold and I would probably pay an additional $115 for peace of mind.
