how to use British mint stamps on letters?
I have collected stamps and mint British stamps for years. (I live in KY, USA) Now my daughter is getting wed in England. How can I put “1st” stamps on wedding invitations.
a) I do not know whether a first class stamp from 1997 is going to satisfy the postal requirements when I place it on the RSVP envelope inside the wedding invitations.
b) And what is the requirement for a wedding invitation that weighs over the minimum?
c) Maybe there will be a rate change before February 2011, (when the invitations will go out). How will I find out that from KY?
d) Can i just send Phoebe all my Presentation Packs and tell her to “get on with it”?!
I will enjoy placing those lovely stamps (whcih do not even bring face value on ebay) to good use. I am already ‘over the hill’ and my kids will have no idea what to do with the collection. .
British stamps don’t work on being sent FROM USA.
a) ‘First Class’ stamps from last year or earlier are not worth todays First Class (I know, confusing. Just consider them worth 32c (amount first First Class stamp was worth).
b) Each ounce is 44c (1 First Class, or Forever stamp bought in 2009 or later) Each additional ounce is .17

d) Great idea! Would she know how to do all this though?
If you’re using British Stamps sending within Britain, then I’m not sure. Their First Class rules vary from ours.
