It’s going to be much cheaper to do this in Miami than in the Keys. Things are very expensive in the Keys b/c it’s all driven down from Miami. The keys do not really have beaches like the east coast beaches do. So the beaches are built by the hotels and are private. Some aren’t, but they are wide lush beaches like Florida beaches. They are rocky and rather narrow.

Most beaches require a permit. I’d hire a wedding planner. They pay any fees and get any permits you need. Most of them have set up stuff–especially since you just want simple white arch. To just have rental and set up, would be a far amount.

We hired a wedding planner for my sister’s wedding in St Thomas. It really helped. She could send us pictures of other weddings. If you use a hotel, you will usually be required to use the hotel’s catering. You are right–that will cost you a lot more money. Here is one that starts at $350.

One thing I would look at doing if you are getting married during the off season (not Spring Break or summer) is to rent the deck of a beach front restaurant. Have that restaurant set up a buffet out there. For a day wedding, you could think Cuban sandwiches. You could work out the menu and prices directly with the restaurant owner. Otherwise if you provide food on the beach, you have a lot more issues with sand getting in the food, and where people can sit. If you want alcohol, work out one signature drink like Mojitos by the pitcher.
